skimming grassy knolls laced
with winter frost. a press of hoof
into soil, trending careful, flaxen-colored fur
blends to disappear. a still place, a murmur
of a brook moving under a thin sheet of ice.
golden eyes shine in the morning light.

Poetry Practice: Pick a word for the day and write an impromptu poem. You can also create a list of words and write a poem for each. This practice is used to push the boundaries of a poem and force you to flex your writing skills.
For today, I have chosen the word “Evergreen”. Have a word suggestion for future poetry practices? Leave a comment below.
Tall, spiney
a twirl of ivy,
evergreen touching
frosted blue skies
a soft down of
snow below.
In the trees, the eyes of the night gaze,
creatures revel in the dirt and moss,
hands guiding the clouds across the sky
exposing silvers stars that glitter
in the black night. A hollow hoot of an owl
the crack of a broken twig, a silence that
envelopes the dreams of the dreamer in
the forest at night.
